(11) St Thomas at (6) Belmont

 It’s not often 15-3 only nets you a 6 seed but that’s the bracket Jim Cilley’s team heads off to. I’m high on this Belmont team; Trevor Hunt (17.2) is a workhorse on the low block, Doug Price has about 50 plus starts under his belt, Derek Stevens is tough with the ball in his hands and Matt Pluskis is capable of winning a tournament game in the fourth quarter with his shooting.

Belmont has the pieces and Cilley has a good read on this group; understanding when to ride one group out on the floor and when to make a substitution to give them a different look.

 St Thomas on the other hand is coming in believing they can win. They only lost by a point against Belmont in their lone meeting and they have wins over Somersworth & Inter-Lakes on the resume. This is a team that has dealt with injuries and won with balanced scoring. Andrew Cavanaugh has had good season along with Zac Carberry, Jake Proulx, Shawn Dekone and Tim Bouchard.

 The Saints will try to spread Belmont out, Hunt included, and beat them with their ability to create open looks off the dribble. This is a team that has been competitive in nearly every game they’ve lost (that Raymond loss late in the season is a head scratcher..).

 Tomorrow night they hope to keep the outcome in suspense all the way to the final minutes, where all the pressure in the gym would flip over the higher seed.
